Dead to the Law

God’s Moral Law (the 10 Commandments) were a major stumbling block to the Jews – as they are to many even now. Jewish people thought that salvation was to be found in the keeping of the Law (John 5:39). Christ told them that salvation was not the Law’s purpose and that they had no capacity to keep it anyway. Paul takes up the same theme in the passage before us today. Not only is the believer “dead to sin” (Romans 6:11) - they are also “dead to the Law (Romans 7:4). We’ll talk about what that means in the message today. “Dead to the Law” is taken from Romans 7:1-6.
