What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Unity Baptist Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

THE SCRIPTURES

We believe in the Bible as the only inspired, inerrant Word of God, authoritative for faith and practice.  II Timothy 3:16-17

GOD

We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; Who is the creator and sustainer of all things and worthy of our worship and praise.  Colossians 1:15-17

JESUS CHRIST

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death for our sins by His shed blood on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal, visible return in power and glory.  John 1:1-18; Romans 3:24-25; I Peter 2:24; John 11:1-45; 14:1-3; Hebrews 6:14-15, 7:26; 9:11-14; Revelation 19:11-16

SALVATION

We believe that all people are lost in their sin and without God in their natural state; that when Adam and Eve fell in the Garden of Eden, the human race fell with them.  Through the death and resurrection of Christ, salvation was made possible for mankind.  By God's grace, and through repentance of sin and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, apart from our own works, people are saved - justified, baptized into His death, and born again from above, by the Holy Spirit.  John 1:12-13; 3:1-21; Romans 3:23-24; Ephesians 2:8-9

HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit.  By His indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life, and is spiritually gifted for ministry to others.  Acts 2:1-4; 17-24 (cf Joel 2:28-30); I Corinthians 6:19-20

THE CHURCH

We believe that every redeemed person is a member of the body of Christ (the Church), and is to affiliate themselves with a local body of believers for the purpose of instruction, encouragement, accountability, and service to others for the glory of God.  Ephesians 4:11-16; I Timothy 3:15; Hebrews 10:25

FUTURE EVENTS

We believe that Jesus Christ is returning one day to raise the dead, rapture His church, judge both the living and the dead -  and to ultimately usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.
I Corinthians 15:1-58; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 19:11-16
