The Roots of Communion

When the disciples met with Christ in the upper room on the last night of His life, they didn’t gather to celebrate the Lord’s Supper, they met to observe the Passover Seder. As observant Jews, these disciples had observed Passover all their lives, perhaps routinely, as we often do in our religious observances. But this time it would be different, as Christ explains to them what these elements actually mean, as He converts the observance of Passover to what we know as “The Lord’s Supper”. This morning we will do something similar, as we explain the Passover, and observe the Lord’s Supper. We will begin in Mark 14:17-26.
